General Ledger Assistant Team Leader

What's the role?

The General Ledger Assistant Team Leader is a key member of the finance regional office; supporting the global financial close process and driving value through analysis. You will be instrumental to the monthly cycle by owning the timely and accurate financial postings for your market organisation; including the delivery of financial statements.

A key aspect of this role is to build strong stakeholder relationships throughout our Northern Europe Finance Shared Services Hub here in Manchester, and the global Hilti community by adding value to our core processes and striving to meet best practice at all times.

In addition to your operational tasks you will be first point of contact for the 7 GL Accountants and will support the Team Leader in Developing the team.

What does the role involve?

As the Assistant Team Leader you will be involved in a balanced mix of operational and leadership tasks. You will be fully responsible to manage and oversee the end to end accounting process for one of our markets including Month End and Year End closing, Tax compliance and Statutory Returns. You will work closely with the Finance Business Partner to ensure accurate accounts, both balance sheet and P&L that are fully compliant with UK GAAP and the Group Finance Manual.

You will support the Team Leader in leading and developing the team, including managing the onboarding of new team members, being a first point of contact for technical accounting support, driving continuous improvements, managing external audits, supporting the team with more complex topics and ensuring a smooth delivery of the MEC and YEC cycles.

Our Head Office is currently based next to Old Trafford but during 2021 we will move to state of the art new premises at Circle Square in Central Manchester. We will continue to offer free parking for employees and will be located a short walk from Oxford Rd train station and St Peter's Square tram stop.

What you need is:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Fully Qualified Accountant
  • Previous experience in a Senior Shared Service role
  • Experience with statutory returns, including VAT, Tax & Financial Statements
  • Enthusiastic approach, proactive and self-reliant person with excellent communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of IFRS and UK Gaap
  • Strong IT skills, knowledge of SAP and advanced user of MS office Applications
  • Demonstrated experience of developing others
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and manage conflicting deadlines
