Fire Technical Lead
What's the role?
Join our Northern European Engineering team as an Engineering Technical Lead in our Firestop team at our UK Head Office in Manchester. Our key involvement in the fire industry is in passive fire protection in which we are one of the market leaders.
In the past few years there has been an increase in the demand in passive fire protection and we are therefore increasing our fire team.
As a Fire Engineering Technical Lead at Hilti you will be working alongside our fire engineers in the UK in order to develop professional fire engineering judgements to our customers using the current state of art, our extensive tesing data, our global expertise and your expertise.
You will be taking the lead role alongside our Firestop Expert in order to support our top customers with high level pasisve fireprotection strategy in order to drive the European Technical Approved specifications .
Additionally, you will support in raise the competency of our field engineers in the passive fireprotection sector and build a strong relationship with our key partners and institutions

What does the role involve?
Responsibilities will include:
Develop high quality professional fire engineering judgements for our customers to support them on their projects when their application is outside of the approvals
Progressively develop and maintain expertise in passive fire protection for applications out of the standards with the aim to become one of the experts in the team
Use these expertise to provide solutions directly to customers and also to support Engineering team members in both support and field based roles with appropriate consideration of the current Liability Policy
Maintain relationship with fire institutions and contribute to driving best practice in the industry
Continuous improvement in the technical deliverables of the team by working joinlty with our Northern European Firestop Expert and head of the department to identify key improvement areas and identify best way to support our field engineers

What you need is:
- Pro-active and Enthusiastic
- Degree or equivalent experience in Structural, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or Fire Engineering
- Good level of knowledge of the construction industry and the design & construction process with all relevant technical disciplines associated with applications/products
- Previous experience in fire engineering or passive fire protection
- Advance level of understanding of fire, relevant codes/ standards and best practice
- A great undertsanding and experience of the practical element of passive fire protection
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to implement and adapt to changes
- Exposure to dealing with people, either by training, leading a project or previous management experience.
